A Better Way
I believe that by integrating Eastern and Western medical traditions we can provide the best possible health care for patients. Currently, most doctors practice reactive medicine. Once they have an immediate problem under control, they devote virtually no time to patients’ ongoing health. True health care, by contrast, shows how to prevent disease from recurring. Its practitioners address the whole body, teaching patients to change their lifestyles in ways that encourage better health while discouraging illness.
The goal of Xiaolan Health Centre is to be a model for this superior approach to health care. We bring together the best of the world’s great medical traditions, taking the time required to assess, diagnose and develop an individual plan of treatment for each patient. At the same time, we educate people on what caused their health issues in the first place and give them the tools they need to achieve and sustain wellness throughout their lives.
Our emphasis on thorough diagnosis eliminates needless treatments, speeds up recovery times and empowers patients to take better control of their long-term health. If this approach were widely adopted, it would bring a major improvement in the quality of care we offer our citizens. It would also yield significant financial savings in the health sector, freeing more resources for research.
Health is the most important issue in our lives. We deserve to have access to the best possible care – and we need to learn how to take better care of ourselves. I hope Xiaolan Health Centre will lead the way, inspiring a network of clinics where East meets West, where treatment and prevention are equally important, and where patients can find the comprehensive, personalized care they deserve.
