DO I NEED A DOCTOR’S REFERRAL? No. All new patients are welcome – simply call 416-538-8262 to arrange your initial visit. However, if your insurance carrier requires a referral to approve coverage for any of our services, you should obtain this from your family physician or specialist.
WHO WILL I SEE ON MY FIRST VISIT? We try to have all new patients consult initially with Xiaolan Zhao, however, this is not always necessary, particularly if the patient has been referred to a specific practitioner. In a meeting lasting about half an hour, the practitioner assesses your current health and asks about any particular concerns. They then recommend a course of treatment and outlines which of the Centre’s services may be of benefit to you.
HOW SHOULD I PREPARE FOR MY FIRST CONSULTATION? No special preparation is required – just come as you are. If you have any documents relating to your current state of health, you are welcome to bring them along, but there is no need to forward medical files. If you subsequently book appointments with any of our therapeutic practitioners, they will inform you of any special preparations they may recommend for their treatment sessions.
WILL MY TREATMENT BE COVERED BY PRIVATE INSURANCE? Most private health insurance plans, whether provided through your employer, an association or under an individual policy, include coverage of therapeutic services such as acupuncture and naturopathy. However, the specific services covered, as well as any limits on the frequency and cost of treatment, varies widely from plan to plan. We recommend that you consult your benefits guide or contact your insurance representative to determine precisely what coverage is available in your case. Unfortunately, no services at the Xiaolan Health Centre are covered by OHIP.
WHAT METHODS OF PAYMENT ARE ACCEPTED? Xiaolan Health Centre is pleased to accept payments by debit card, major credit card, cash, or personal cheque. We issue itemized receipts.
